The Killer Instinct

John Montgomery

If you had one shot, one opportunity, to seize everything you ever wanted, would you capture it or let it slip?

This is a quote from Eminem's song, Lose Yourself. This verse really motivates me. I start to imagine myself in the US Open and asking myself that same question. One day that opportunity will be there for me and I will capture it.

What will it take to capture "IT?"

In order to capture that moment you need the Killer Instinct. The killer instinct is the ability to drop feelings and emotions and go after what you want with no fear. Google describes it as the ruthless determination to succeed or win.

With out the killer instinct you will live a life of mediocrity. I am saying this because I have experienced a life of mediocrity. When I was in high school, I just wanted to fit in. I had average grades, average golf scores, and average ambitions in life. Then, one day I suddenly had enough of being average, so I changed my lifestyle. I started to strive for goals, live life with a fire in my heart, and give 100% into everything I did. In turn, my grades improved, golf scores lowered, and great opportunities came my way more often.

Whether you are trying to take your life, job, profession, passion, or all of them to the next level, you need to ask yourself if you have the killer instinct in you. When an opportunity comes your way, do you give everything you have to achieve it, or do those opportunities seem to slip by? If they do slip away, then acknowledge the absents of the Killer instinct and make a change for the better! I promise you won't regret it.
